The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have begun seizing Chinese-manufactured electric service vehicles that were being used by army personnel.

The decision was made by order of the IDF Chief of Staff, following a risk assessment conducted by Israeli security services.

The assessment found that the electronic systems in some Chinese vehicles could pose a threat of leaking confidential information.

“A modern car is a computer on wheels with a closed operating system and wireless connectivity. It is capable of collecting information from nearby objects,” explained a former senior IDF official to reporters.

According to information from 9TV, this process will continue until the end of the first quarter of 2026. The first cars to be confiscated will be those used by soldiers who have access to sensitive data.

Afterward, the process will extend to all other officers, regardless of their security clearance level. The army estimates that around 700 cars will be seized. Most of them are seven-seat models from the Chinese manufacturer CHERY.
